Summary:

Administers information from clients by phone, email and fax in order to process insurance claims and work with clients, adjusters, and Sales Executives on claims status, problems, and questions; and manage internet sign-ons for the department. Additional responsibility for managing claims, collaborating with insureds and assisting with problem solving in conjunction with Account Executives and Sales Executives. Responsible for supervision of Claims Representatives.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as liaison between claims staff and Account Executives and Sales Executives. Attends claims reviews. Identifies any unusual claim related issues and potential impact. Resolves customer claim issues in coordination with Account Executives and Sales Executives in order to reduce Errors and Omissions exposure. Has limited direct customer and prospective client contact.
  • Follows up on claim acknowledgements and adjuster assignments for claims as appropriate.   Follows up on claims to secure Adjuster and claim number. Serves as contact for Adjuster and Insured for claims-related issues. Secures loss runs from carriers as directed.
  • Assists clients with direct reporting process, claims forms and procedures, and methods of tracking claims in preparation for new or renewal products. Provides claims packets to customers and prospects as requested. Reports claims for insured clients. Works directly with both insureds and claimants to identify new claims.
  • Completes reporting and tracking of claims to verify proper reporting to carrier and to ensure Sales Executives and account service team are aware of claims activity.
  • Follows up with the insured to verify the claims process is managed appropriately, transmitting legal documents received to insurance carriers promptly, and identifying any areas where additional attention is needed.
  • Reviews insurance claim forms and related documents for completeness. Updates claim reporting information for companies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.                                  
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.                                      
  • Knowledge of Agency management systems; Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
  • Must frequently work with the public, customers, and co-workers. Must regularly work with insurance vendors.
  • Prior experience in claims or insurance.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid Adjuster license where required; Property and Casualty Agent license encouraged.
