The Big Picture:

The Billingual (Spanish & English) Benefit Services Representative will provide telephonic support to members and insureds whose eligibility and fringe benefits are determined and managed by the Benefit Operations department. Support is described as confirming individual enrollment, insurance claims status, ID card issuance, HRA inquiries, and questions related to fringe accounting. The representative may also be charged with data entry and department overflow. Work is performed under direct supervision with limited latitude for the use of independent judgment.

 

Responsibilities

The Day-to-Day:

  • Assist cusotmers through bilingual (Spanish & English) telephonic support
  • Attends and participates in all relevant department and company training events
  • Processes returned mail and then notates insureds and client accounts
  • Provides exceptional customer service by responding to inbound calls while meeting SLA and department metrics
  • Assists members in understanding how their SCA/DBA and Living Wage fringe dollars were allocated
  • Answers COBRA related questions and provides detailed instruction on how CENs are to be completed along with payment remittance information
  • Telephonically enrolls members during annual open enrollment periods and new hire/ newly eligible scenarios
  • Supplies requested insurance enrollment, waiver, and hourbank refund forms to insureds via email or standard mail service
  • Maintains a consistent work schedule including lunch and discretionary breaks
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

The Right Person for the Job Has:

  • Experience in using Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to be detail-oriented and to multi-task
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Knowledge of employee benefits and insurance products in a customer service environment
  • Ability to calculate mathematical figures and amounts, such as premium amounts due
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma, or GED
  • 2 years customer service experience
  • Experience working in a call center environment preferred
