Summary:

 Adjusts claims for workers’ compensation clients. 

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Investigate, evaluate, and adjust workers’ compensation with established claim handling standards and laws.
  • Notifies clients of results of investigations. Discusses lines of authority for specific claims resolution. Makes recommendations for settlements or denial of claims. Processes denials.                  
  • Negotiates claims with claimants and or claimants’ legal counsel.
  • Properly reserves funds. Adjusts client claim reserves appropriately.
  • Obtains required releases for finalization of claims.
  • Review and maintain claim system diaries.
  • Follows company policies and procedures with respect to all essential duties and responsibilities of the job.
  • Reviews rates, rules, and regulations to ensure that claims practices correctly follow standards and laws.
  • Follow client specific special handling instruction.
  • Effectively communicate in a professional manner verbally and written.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite (Outlook, Work, Excel).
  • Attend claims reviews and client meetings as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.                                     
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • KY Adjuster’s License a plus
