Summary This is a non-exempt inside sales position. The Business Development Specialist schedules appointments for Employee Benefits sales executives.  The Business Development Specialist enhances the public image of the Agency by proactively performing the following duties.  Part time; 20 hours weekly cold calling businesses.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


• Follows company procedures with respect to all essential duties and responsibilities of the job.

• Calls and writes to prospects via lists provided.


• Call prospective customers by operating VOIP telephones, automatic dialing systems, and other Internet technologies.


• Must be able to cold-call on prospects, influence others and schedule appointments.


• Collect prospect information for EB sales executives.


• Obtain prospects’ information and enters into database.


• Ability to work between 9 AM EST and 5 PM EST; MONDAY- FRIDAY.


• Part time; 20 hours weekly cold calling businesses.


Effectively use sales techniques to identify prospective clients to provide leads for additional business. Generates a steady flow of qualified prospects from own leads and company supplied leads and solicits referrals from existing customer base.


Gathers complete client information necessary for marketing the account. Gathers updated information at each renewal.


Education and/or Experience                                                  

High school education or equivalent and at least one-year related experience and/or training.


Language Skills                                               

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.


Mathematical Skills                                                     

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


Reasoning Ability                                            

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Computer Skills                                              

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Agency Management systems, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Valid Drivers License required
