Summary: Responsible for helping to maintain the overall performance and stability of the network, including data circuits and all necessary hardware and software to maintain it, including all Local-Area-Networks (LANs) and Wide-Area-Network (WAN). Also assists in supporting and maintaining internet and phone service circuits.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assists in maintaining the total network topology, including circuits for voice, data, and Internet communication and ensures data security as directed by IT Director or IT Operations Manager.

 

Maintains network hardware, software, and telecommunications services such as telephone system, routers, bridges, switches, modems, , and Wireless Access Points, as directed by IT Operations Manager.

 

Responsible for initiating calls to relative Internet Service Providers and/or phone service vendors when circuits or service is down and report successful initiation to Operations Manager and IT Director.

 

Monitors the network endpoints and traffic via a network monitoring system and software and maintains the proper operation of the network monitoring system.

 

Maintains the corporate phone and voice mail system under direction of IT Operations Manager.

 

Trains users on proper use and care of equipment such as phones, computers, printers, etc.

 

Assists in implementing policies and procedures related to network hardware and software acquisition, use, support, security, and backup.

 

Assists in maintaining network users, user environment, directories, and security when asked.

 

Maintains requests for IT services and maintains history records and related problem documentation via the internal Help Desk or work order tracking system, Track-It, when necessary.

 

Responds to the needs and questions of network users concerning their access to resources on the network and the operation of various software programs.

 

Researches, evaluates, and recommends new technologies.

 

Assists with testing and implementing software upgrades.

 

Serves as the backup to the Network Engineer.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience                                                

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  CompTIA A+ or Network+ Certification a plus.

 

Computer Skills                                             

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Contact Management systems; Database software; Development software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

 

Other Qualifications                                                  

Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time.
