Overview

Job Title: Accountant/Bookkeeper

Location: Hunt Valley, MD

Department: Finance

Reports To: Senior Accountant

FLSA Status: Exempt

 

Summary: This position will contribute to the efficient and effective workings of the finance department by executing daily tasks with a strong attention to detail.  This role will utilize strong accounting knowledge, time management skills and effective problem solving to ensure success.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain general ledger to include the preparation of journal entries, accounts analysis and reconciliation, and closing books monthly.
  • Sustain commission system data entry and maintenance.
  • Work with outside vendors to solve system issues, implement new processes/procedures as needed, and initiate modifications/enhancements.
  • Reconcile general and subsidiary bank accounts by gathering and balancing information.
  • Provide financial status information by preparing special reports and projects.
  • Maintain records of all financial documents with appropriate supporting material. Updates records as necessary.
  • Uphold accounting controls by following policies and procedures and complying with federal, state and local financial legal requirements.
  • Update customer records with account information in database when applicable.
  • Represent Crawford in a positive and professional fashion with both internal and external customers.
  • Contribute to the team goals by accomplishing related projects.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
  • Maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure in a deadline driven environment.

Education and/or Experience                                              

  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting and 4 to 5 years Accounting experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new accounting software systems.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Familiarity with Quick Books Enterprise Solutions software preferred, but not required.
