Overview

The Senior Claims Specialist administers information from clients by phone, email and fax in order to process insurance claims; work with clients, adjusters, and Producers on claims status, problems, and questions. Additionally, this role is responsible for managing claims, collaborating with insureds and assisting with problem solving in conjunction with Claims Managerment. The position involves being a resource for the insured, carriers, underwriters, and internal departments.

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Claims Background: Workers Compensation, Lost-Times
  • Jurisdictional Experience: Workers comp claims experience with CT, MA, NH and/or NY is preferred.
  • Active Adjusters’ license: In at least one of the following states or the willingness to obtain: CT, MA, NH, VT and/or NY

What You'll Do

  • Investigate, evaluate, and resolve complex workers compensation claims applying your analytical skills to make informed decisions and bring claims to resolution.  
  • Work in partnership with our clients, and carrier adjusters to deliver innovative solutions and enhance the claims management processThink critically, solve problems, plan, and prioritize tasks to optimally serve clients and claimant
  • Independently and pro-actively manage claims and act as a liaison to the clients for all claims issues.
  • Advocates with carriers to resolve coverage questions to provide the best outcomes for clients.
  • Reviews claim reserves and negotiate with adjusters for reserve reductions where possible and warranted to positively impact our clients Experience Mod and/or Renewal.
  • Establishes initial contact with the clients to develop a plan of action and maintain and develop this relationship. 
  • Obtains current claim statuses from the carrier based on suspense / diary, and provide reports to clients in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Keeps Producers, Account Executives and Claims Manager informed of all claim developments.
  • Update agency management system with accurate and detailed descriptions which are easy to comprehend and follow.
  • Attach all relevant documents to the agency management system and update the financials.
  • Have a solid understanding of claims coverage and litigation processes and can handle standard as well as challenging and complex claim issues.
  • Apply claims management experience to execute decision-making to analyze claims exposure, plan the proper course of action, and appropriately resolve claims.
  • Interact extensively with various parties involved in the claim process to ensure effective communication and resolution.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to our claimants on behalf of our clients exhibiting empathy through each step of the claims process
  • Handle claims consistent with clients' and corporate policies, procedures, and standard methodologies in accordance with statutory, regulatory, and ethics requirements.
  • Document and communicate claim activity timely and efficiently, supporting the outcome of the claim file.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

  • 5+ years of claims experience
  • Active Adjuster's license preferred but not required
  • EPIC experience preferred but not required
  • Worker's Compensation experience preferred but not required 
  • Knowledge of accepted industry standards and practices
  • Computer eperience with related claims and business software
  • Strong organization and communication skills with an ability to think critically, solve prolems, and prioritize tasks to optimally service clients and claimants
