Overview

The Vice President, Commercial Lines Manager (“CL Manager”) will oversee the commercial lines service department for Fred C. Church while partnering with sales and other senior leadership.

 

The CL Manager is responsible for all activities related to the operations of the commercial department, including, but not limited to, client growth and retention, strategic partnerships and team engagement.  Additionally, the CL Manager will continuously look to improve the client’s experience with the team, our services and products.

What You'll Do

  • Define short and long-term strategic goals that support Commercial Lines client retention and growth – in terms of number of accounts and revenue
  • Manage full staff development (onboarding, training and performance management)
  • Demonstrate best-practices leadership and management principles, with an emphasis on hands-on and face-to-face interactions with the service teams
  • Keep resource allocations balanced, focused on retention, and ready to take on new business
  • Establish performance targets and continuously monitor, analyze and track ongoing performance results
  • Lead in the recruitment, hiring, training and career development of a top-notch client service team
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, standards, regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Assist in the resolution of escalated customer issues, effectively communicating the problem and (proposed) resolution to producers, teammates, underwriters and/or customers
  • Support a culture of the highest degree of teamwork, respect, quality, and accountability
  • Help to set and manage financial targets and annual budgets for the team

What You'll Need

  • 7+ years of experience in supervisory/managerial role
  • 10+ years of experience as commercial lines service agent or equivalent position
  • Strong technical skills and understanding of insurance underwriting and coverage
  • Comfortable using Agency Management systems; experience with EPIC a strong plus
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, lead and develop high performance service teams
  • Excellent communication, organizational, motivational and planning skills
  • Ability to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast paced environment
  • Comfortable delivering important messages in person and virtually
  • Advanced user of MS Excel for data reporting and able to draw conclusions from analysis
  • Advanced degree and/or industry designations a plus
  • Property & Casualty license required
