Overview

The Vice President of Corporate Communications will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the organization’s communication strategy. This strategic leader oversees both internal and external communications, ensuring consistent messaging, brand reputation management, and effective engagement with key executives. Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), the VP of Corporate Communications contributes to the organization’s overall strategic planning process.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and implement an integrated strategic communications plan to advance the organization’s brand identity.
  • Broaden awareness of the organization’s programs, initiatives, and priorities across key stakeholder audiences.
  • Enhance visibility of programs through targeted communication efforts.
  • Directly manage communications activities that promote, enhance, and protect the organization’s brand reputation.
  • Ensure consistent messaging across all channels, including digital, print, and media.
  • Build and nurture relationships with external constituencies, including funders, media outlets, and influencers.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the organization, representing its values and mission.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets.
  • Proactively engage with the media to share organizational updates, stories, and achievements.
  • Oversee various communication products and services, including:
    • Newsletters and other print publications
    • Web content, e-newsletters, and online communications
    • Media releases and public relations materials
    • Marketing collateral
  • Lead crisis communication efforts, ensuring timely and transparent communication during challenging situations.
  • Work closely with the senior management team, CMO, and other departments to align communication efforts with organizational goals.
  • Identify emerging issues and opportunities for communication.
  • Some travel required, approximately 30%.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with a concentration in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field, (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience, including experience with a public company and, partnering with investor relations, and crafting key messages and assets around company performance.
  • Track record of creating engaging internal and external communications plan.
  • Proven experience in brand management, media relations, and creating media plans/roadshows.
  • Proven experience with strategic communications and owning content development for a CEO and other members of the Executive team, including vetting media requests and preparation for speaking sessions and press interviews.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to build and motivate a high-performing team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
