Overview

The Workers Comp Advisor analyzes workers’ compensation claims for clients. This role makes recommendations on claims progress, reserves, potential claims resolutions, carrier effectiveness, in an effort to assist the client with the reduction of claims liability. S/he responds to Producers on behalf of clients regarding situations or questions that require the application of state specific workers’ compensation regulations.

What You'll Do

Please note that the duties below can vary based on the workflow of your local office.

  • Has direct contact with carriers’ adjusters to discuss claim issues and potential resolution plans.
  • Reviews client’s carrier’s notes to identify newly reported claims and issues developing on all open reserves, inefficiencies and status updates.
  • Conducts or participates in client or carrier claims reviews with adjusters, legal counsel, and or Producers. Attends client meetings as requested.  Prepares reports in client specific formats to monitor particular claims issues.
  • Responds to clients and internal emails or phone calls to obtain claims updates, information, and specific or general comments on claims.
  • Reviews loss runs for clients; sorts data; assists with overall analysis of claims issues, costs, and causes.
  • Maintains accurate records.
  • Projects experience ratings in order to help insureds with projecting job costs and budgeting. Monitor ratings for correctness and make corrections when necessary.
  • Manages loss control training requests from clients.
  • Assist clients with return to work programs.
  • Stays current on workers’ compensation litigation, reforms, and changes in laws and regulations including ADA, FMLA, and COBRA in order to effectively respond to questions in claims reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2-5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Adjuster and Property and Casualty Agent license required
  • Tech savvy; ability to learn multiple systems including Microsoft Office Suite and Agency Management software
