In our Hunt Valley, MD office, we seek an experienced client-facing Senior Underwriting Consultant who excels in working with clients. This remote opportunity is not for the faint of heart. You are responsible for working with sales executives to prepare proposal requests, obtain and analyze carrier quotes, and input data into various automation systems. You have overall accountability for developing a plan for clients and prospects to manage their health and welfare benefit-risk.

▪ Execute competitive bidding of all coverage lines and prepares reports outlining financial and contractual analysis according to company policy.
▪ Review vendor proposals for accuracy.
▪ Assist Sales Executives in evaluating, determining, and recommending alternatives. Coverages, pricing, options, and plan design changes based on analysis of available plan elements and client/prospect goals.
▪ Prepare financial analysis for prospects, including claims projections, premium equivalents, and contribution scenarios.
▪ Produce deliverables timely, accurately, and in compliance with company standards.
▪ Build and maintain models and templates on an as-needed basis.
▪ Develop positive relationships with vendor representatives.
▪ Remain abreast of the health insurance environment and constantly changing insurance legislation and serve as an industry resource to Sales Executives and Account Managers.
▪ Respond to routine and non-routine correspondence.
▪ Work independently and within the team on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects.
▪ Represent AP Benefit Advisors positively and professionally with internal and external customers.
▪ Maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
▪ Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

• Three years of employee benefits underwriting industry experience.
• Willing to obtain a Life and Health Insurance License.
• Carrier Negotiation experince is required.
• Actuarial experience is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong PC skills with the aptitude to learn new systems.
• Knowledge of self-funded health plans, life, and disability plans preferred.
