Overview

Job Title: Employee Benefits Consultant 

Department: Sales

Reports To: Managing Director

FLSA Status: Exempt

 

Utilizes a consultative, risk management approach to employee benefit sales. Works in conjunction with Account Management, Compliance, carriers, and third-party administrators to obtain data and manage the client through the sales process, analysis and implementation, and maintenance of clients’ employee benefits programs. Acts as an advocate on behalf of our clients to ensure account retention and a superior experience. 

Responsibilities

  • Increases business growth at an annual rate set by the organization
  • Maintains database for current customers as well as prospects in order to track lead activity and status
  • Meets annual rendition goal in account revenue as well as sales goals for core benefits products, voluntary benefits products, HR professional services, and other proprietary products.
  • Maintains existing client base by answering product and service questions in a timely and efficient manner; suggesting information about other products and services when applicable.
  • Assists in evaluating current product results; identifying needs to be filled; monitoring competitive options; analyzing and relaying customer experience.
  • Coordinates and presents predictive modeling and data analytics when applicable.
  • Produces a proactive renewal timeline for all accounts.
  • Directs the implementation and execution of sold accounts to the carrier and or third party administrator.
  • Provides team and client with appropriate timelines to ensure that expectations and turnaround times are met.
  • Sustains a working knowledge of compliance and regulatory issues surrounding health & wellness.
  • Organizes submission of all pertinent information to the proposal coordinator in order to obtain proposals from all carriers.
  • Participates in the renewal process for all groups with 10+ eligible employees, including negotiating pricing with carriers and underwriters.
  • Contributes to the team goals by accomplishing related projects.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Completes and submits of all required reports based on assigned deadlines.
  • Represents the company in a positive and professional fashion with both internal and external customers.
  • Maintains composure and effectiveness under pressure in a deadline driven environment.
  • Participates in Sales Meetings and retreats as scheduled.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Life & Health License (required)
  • 3+ years industry experience
  • Ability to use various office equipment (copier, scanner, fax machine, telephone, and mail/postage equipment)
